프로그램 Igor Stravinsky: Requiem Canticles Interval Giuseppe Verdi: Requiem

Hear two contrasting visions of requiem music - by operatic master Verdi and 20th-century genius Stravinsky.

Verdi's highly charged Requiem was forthright and hard-hitting in its expression of grief, faith and judgment. So much so, that many thought it too dramatic for performance in church.

Stravinsky wrote his short Introitus for male voices in memory of TS Eliot, which led soon thereafter to a setting of Requiem verses that couldn't be more different to Verdi's. His Requiem Canticles focused on ritual rather than expression. On calm detachment rather than overwhelming grief.

해석: 오페라의 마스터 베르디의 레퀴엠과, 20세기 천재 스트라빈스키의 레퀴엠의 차이를 들어보자.

베르디의 에너지 넘치는 레퀴엠은 '슬픔, 신념 그리고 심판'을 표현하는데 있어서 단도직입적이고 감정에 직접 부딪힌다. 그렇기에 교회에서 연주되기에는 너무 드라마틱 하다고 생각되어 왔다.

스트라빈스키는 TS Eliot을 회상하며 그의 짧은 Introitus를 남성의 목소리로 작곡했다. 이는 베르디의 레퀴엠과 비교했을 때 찾을 수 있는 큰 차이점이다. 그의 레퀴엠 Canticles는 감정의 표현보다 종교적 기운에 집중되어 있다. 분에 넘치는 슬픔이 아니라 차분한 무관심이다.
